Safestore, the largest Self Storage company in the UK and Paris, is pleased to announce it has won a competitive tendering process to manage the 12 store chain of Space Maker stores. Space Maker will benefit from the national footprint of the UK’s No.1 self storage company and will have the additional benefits of scale and the consequent platforms of its on-line strength, national accounts and strategic alliances. Space Maker commenced trading in 2000 and in the past ten years has expanded to operate from twelve facilities, predominately in the South-East and South of England.
Space Maker has two main concentrations, along the A12 corridor in Essex and in the Bournemouth/Poole conurbation. The A12 facilities are in Romford, Chelmsford and Colchester. In Bournemouth, Space Maker dominates the market, owning the majority of self storage facilities in the area, achieved through the acquisition of RMHL in August in 2006.
The self storage facilities are generally highly visible and all are in commercially attractive locations with strong demographics.
Management has focused on individual facility performance and has built a portfolio that competes on price and service in each market. Space Maker has three facilities in and around London, whilst also enjoying strong and sustainable market share in its other locations.
